Reflection & Leadership
To begin I wanted to discuss my own views and beliefs on leadership. I believe that the epitome of a good leader is someone who values good communication. A leader that is willing to gather their team’s thoughts and opinions while also valuing their voice is an excellent trait to have.
A leader should always be willing to establish trust and respect for their team. They should listen and communicate effectively with their group. It is important to have a mutual trust and understanding of each other.
Segueing my leadership views with my reflection as a staff member for the Journal, I believe that I was able to witness such leadership behavior. My Design Team leader, Rachel, was always easy to communicate with. She responded to my messages and answered my questions easily, I never had any questions after speaking with her.
I also loved the support that was demonstrated to me from Sandi and Ben, I never felt alone while working on the Journal. The Journal helped me grow independently and learn how to work effectively on a team but also what should be expected on a team. When I was sick earlier in the semester and had a difficult time with participation or actively attending class I had received support and aid. Because of the kindness I received it helped me want to do better after I became healthier.
I was able to grow into a person who is able to communicate properly with others, learn how to work with others and to seek what I desire.
